Navigation Licence for Motor Boats
Motorboat licences are classified according to engine size and power. Here are the main categories of licence for motorboats in Switzerland.
Category A: Large Powerboats
This licence is required for large motorboats used mainly for commercial or sporting activities.
Category B: Medium-sized motorboat
Medium-sized boats, often used for recreational purposes, require a category B licence.
Category C: Small Motor Boats
This category covers small motorboats, mainly used for fishing or leisure.
Category D: Low Power Motorboat
Small, low-power engines used for recreational activities require this licence.
Sailing Permit for Sailing Boats
Sailing boats, like motorboats, require a licence depending on their size and whether or not they have an engine.
Category A: Large Motor Yacht
Licence required for large yachts with powerful engines (over 6 kW / 8 HP).
Category B: Medium-sized motor yacht
