Description of the boat
-
Antinea is the name of the goddess of Atlantis (according to Pierre Benoît's novel and several films), whom he imagines to be somewhere in the Hoggar mountains in North Africa. The boat's origins are indeed in North Africa, in Algiers, where it was delivered by the Solindi shipyard in 1962, before moving on to Marseille, then Geneva, then Rolle and finally La Tour-de-Peilz.
The boat, in the Breton cutter style, with a wooden mast and a houari (a sort of mast extension), is planked in mahogany, freshly repainted (including the antifouling), restored and surveyed in June 2024. Her old 1962 Couach engine was replaced by a very fuel-efficient Yanmar (5.9kW) inboard diesel engine in 2018. No engine licence required.
In the cabin, there are 4-5 seats around a built-in table, with bench seats covered with recently purchased mattresses that can also be used as berths for 2 people.
Under sail, the boat performs quite well in fairly strong winds - which is to be expected, as she was designed in Algiers for use in the Mediterranean. 4 jibs / genoa, a spinnaker and an adaptable mainsail (1 reef) are available to adapt the sail area to the wind. The sail area indicated on the licence is 19m2; all other indications are estimates.
We will provide the buyer with the obligatory life-saving equipment (life jackets, jumpers, flag, horn, fire extinguisher, not forgetting the original lifebuoy from the 1962 boat "Antinea Alger"), oars, cleaning equipment, paints adapted to the boat, etc.
For people who have been on the waiting list at the port of La Tour-de-Peilz for more than 5 years, the boat is sold with the berth (the berth cannot be sold).
